Recently, I spent a long weekend in Clearwater right along the outskirts of Tampa Bay Florida. The area is quite tranquil and I’ve noticed many of its residents were retirees. I much enjoyed my time out Clearwater and I must say one of the best parts of my stay was the Douglas Cottage.
On my travels, I prefer settling into rental properties found through Home Away, Airbnb, or VRBO. In most cases, it’s cheaper than hotels and you don’t have to worry about being bombarded by tons of salespersons pressuring you to purchase tourist packages. In my opinion, it’s more worthwhile to be amongst the locals and you can fully enjoy whichever city you’re visiting. I’ve been in some pretty awesome rentals on my travels, but the Douglas Cottage is by far one of the most elegant homes I’ve ever had to privilege of resting my head at.
I found this precious gem on Home Away located near the Gulf Coast. After seeing the house in person, I immediately fell in love with its style. Imagine a classic vintage cottage combined with a French flare. It’s also kind of funny how this house reflected the personality of the homeowners perfectly. The husband was an American and the wife was French and both were quite pleasant and welcoming.
Overall, I absolutely adored the style of this Gulf Coast French Cottage and the location was essential. Just a five to ten minute walk away sits a simply yet serene beachfront; perfect for watching the sunset and easing the mind. It’s also a short drive to local restaurants along Clearwater Beach, shops, bars, and etc. FYI, if you’re ever near Clearwater Beach, checkout the Tate Island Grill. The food is delicious, the drinks are strong, and it has the most amazing views of the Gulf Coast.
The Douglass Cottage sleeps 12 and equipped with the standard home amenities, such as: a gathering area, full kitchen, four bedrooms, three bathrooms, an attached studio apartment, and more. The cool part about the attached studio apartment is that there’s an option available to rent the space separately from the main house; pretty ideal for those traveling solo or with a plus one.
